'Newsletter December 2011
It is with great sadness I announce the passing of our esteemed benefactor Chas Logan.
Chas began writing to me when I first began doing the Newsletter in February 2000. Since then we continued to correspond right up to November this year.
Over the past months Chas, who was in his 98th year began to experience ill health and his eye sight, which had been so very good, began to fail him.
On Tuesday 29th November Chas passed away. He will be sadly missed.
In February 2009 he sent me an envelope marked ‘not to be opened and read until after my death’
I have now opened this and found Chas had put together an article which he called “ A Ninety year survey of our Life—with future “ This is through his eyes.
I intend to type this up and have our web master Stan Batten post it on the web site. Copies will be available in 2012.
I have since received a message from Chas’ Grand Daughter thanking me for the obituary I placed on our web site. To still have that contact with Chas meant so much.
Chas always maintained
that we must get good speakers. I think this is something we all agree is an
important factor. A good speaker is listened to and can get the message out.

In honour of the commitment Chas made to One Nation through both financial donations and advice he was able to give through his life experience, a suggestion was put forward by our Vice President Mick Lenz that as a tribute to Chas an award be made each year.
We are now asking for ideas of how this would be. A Trophy or perhaps a Medal? Are you any good at designing such a thing? Chas was with the Second A.I.F. That may give you a starting point.
As you know One Nation
has always wanted to see a Bank of Australia as we once had. One of our long
time Members Bruce Ingle, has sent me an article titled: The Innovative Bank of
North Dakota. I have attached a copy of this and will be interested in your
views. Click Here For Full
Article
Bruce believes that this, along with our Debit Tax Policy could see us achieving some prominent recognition,
It is inspiring to see the response we have been getting from Members on various issues. We encourage our Members to remember that this is their Party and the more input we can get the stronger the Party will grow.
I hear all the time of
how so disillusioned people are. How fed up they are with the way the country is
run and how the Government can cut so many services but at the same time giving
them selves a huge pay rise.
Never mind the battlers and those reliant on the pension.
Do you know that as my husband’s full time carer I get a measly $55.00 a week allowance? And I might tell you I had to fight for that. If I put my husband into Care it would cost the Government over $1,000.00 a week.
But then there is always someone worse off.
The Agricultural Show season for 2012 begins in January. These Shows we should be looking at to promote One Nation as many people are still unaware that the Party is an alternative to the major Parties.
To be able to man the Gazebo and help with the setting up we need volunteers.
You will know in your
area when the local Shows will be. Please contact me if you can assist.
I received an invitation from the Pakenham & District Show Secretary to apply for a site at their Show on March 17th. Can you help that day?
Applications close on February 8th but as space is limited they advise to book early.
The A.E.C. is doing a
Membership Review once again. If you get a call or letter from the A.E.C. you
just need to confirm that you are a Member.
John Groves has moved to Skipton and is keen to form a Branch there. If you live in that area and are interested please call John on 03 5340 2332. John has experience in running a Branch having been on the Executive of the Bayside Branch and the State Executive.
On Tuesday December 12th John attended the launch of the Australian Manufacturing & Farming Program organised by Senators John Madigan, Nick Xenophon and Hon Bob Katter MP.
Now known as the 3 Amigos.
The aim of this program is to narrow the divide between politicians and working Australians.
John was very impressed with the outcome of this launch and introduced himself to Nick Zenophon and Bob Katter. John Madigan, John is already familiar with.
Interesting that Liberal & Labor were invited to attend but did not bother. If this takes off you can bet they will want to be on board.
Further launches are planned in 2012 to be held in Canberra & Queensland.
John is to be congratulated for having the initiative to attend as our representative.
Our next State Executive meeting is scheduled for February 4th 2012. If you can attend please contact me nearer to that date. With the uncertainty of the work times of some of our Exec. Members, plus the fact that I could get the call for my operation at any time we cannot make a definite booking.
ON BEHALF OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE
I WISH YOU MERRY XMAS & A HEALTHY HAPPY NEW YEAR
Pat Loy State Secretary / Editor
Victorian Interim President’s Report December 2011
I open this report with the sad news that one of the Party’s benefactor’s Chas Logan has passed away. Chas’ support both financially and with invaluable advice has, for many years been a great benefit to us in Victoria and other States.
To honour the memory of Chas the State Executive is considering a new award to be called the Chas Logan Medal / Award.
This would be an award earned by a Member who has made significant contribution to the Party. e.g. recruiting new Members, promoting the Party etc.
Further decision on this will be made at the first State Meeting in 2012
AS 2011 comes to a close, we look back at some of the major issues.
This year we have seen
a marked increase of casualties from our Armed Forces in Afghanistan.
Plus
the rogue Afghani ‘soldiers’ who have turned on our people who were training and
mentoring them.
Though we support out troops in any assignment the sooner they are recalled home from this lost cause the better.
We now have had the Carbon Tax forced upon us, thanks to deals between Labor /
Greens & Independents.
The
Asylum Seekers:

The Malaysia solution has collapsed and we now see a greater number of boats arriving causing overcrowding in detention Centres. These people are now being processed into the Community creating further risk problem due to the lack of character and health checking.
Fair Work Australia—Industrial Relations:
We are now seeing the
poor implementation of FWA with increasing numbers of strikes and
companies
having to resort to grounding their entire operations.
Where as ‘Work Choices’ was slanted towards employers and was voted out accordingly at the 2007 Election. FWA was a strike balance to serve employers and employees, however as we can see this has not been achieved.
Therefore the Industrial Relations needs to be improved or at the very least tweaked to be more evenly balanced.
Interest Rates:
We can see by recent
events overseas (e.g. Euro crises in Europe and America still struggling) that
Australian RBA (Reserve Bank Australia) in the last 2 months has decided to drop
interest rates, to stimulate spending in the economy.

Yet the major banks either does not pass on the full rate drops or waits until both Government and public pressure forces them to drop their rates.
What is the purpose of the RBA when they make a change to rates that cannot be enforced on the major lenders?
Until there is regulation change that can provide the RBA to enforce the banks to make the rate changes then there is no purpose to the RBS’s current role.
The Labor Government is seen as a little more secure with an extra seat gained when Harry Jenkins resigned as Speaker of the House, putting him now as a Labor Backbencher and the Coalition losing Peter Slipper with his appointment to Speaker of the House.
We still need to be prepared for a possible snap Election in 2012. Even so the 2013 Election will come around soon enough.
If you are interested in standing as a Candidate, or know anyone who has the potential, please contact Pat on 03 9773 2403.
We also need you to encourage any new Members to join the Party. Remember we have the $100.00 prize again for the most new Members.
As we come into the
New Year of 2012 the Executive encourages Members to provide input into new and
existing policies
On behalf of the Executive I wish you, family and friends a safe and merry Xmas.
Best Regards
Dale Townsend, Interim State President One Nation Victoria
